This observatory has been listed for over 4 years, so somehow I doubt it will ever sell until the end of the Great Depression II… I don't really care. I built this myself, and it would be hard to leave it behind under any circumstances…
2011-10-10: I keep running into these bottom feeders who think I'm desperate to sell and will take any ridiculous offer. My overhead is very low and I'm in no great hurry.
Let me just say this. I will only take what I have invested in this place with just a bit of leeway for negotiation.
I don't need to sell but I assure you, it takes a lot more money than you think to duplicate what I have done here. If you've never developed empty land from scratch you have no idea. So if you're stupid enough to offer me $40k for something I have over 5x that invested in I suggest you waste someone else time, preferably your own.

Located in beautiful Catron County New Mexico, situated approximately 180 miles southwest of Albuquerque, approximately 100 miles west of Socorro and about 80 miles east of the Arizona border. Lots of trees.
This is a large property (38.5 acres) (2) parcels — adjoining each other. This is suitable for almost any purpose. Large enough to live on. Suitable for grazing for various livestock with access to a high capacity well. At least 12+ acres level ground in contiguous area, and other smaller 2-3 acre level areas are scattered throughout each area accessible via private roads on the property itself. Two separate gated entrances on the eastern and western sides of the property along the old stage road. Please examine Google Earth and Microsoft aerial mapping and you can see the extent of the private roads I built within the property. Make sure to look at the topographic map to see how much level ground is available, there is a lot.
Not only is it an amazing Bortle Class 1 site, it's also an excellent retreat location! Check out Catron County's demographics… Everyone here is well-prepared for the most part.

One of the greatest resources we have is the Clear Sky Clock for Top Of The World Observatory. Our benefactor, Attila Danko has been kind enough to provide it through thick and thin. We are immensely grateful and urge all astronomers to help support this invaluable service. The data provided by the clear sky clock is slightly more accurate than NWS: ABQ weather forecast but we use both to keep us informed. The sky is Bortle Class 1 (explanation) which is pretty amazing at times.
